About Eurostar

Eurostar was first launched in 1994 and is the first and only high-speed train to travel from London to Paris, establishing an important connection between the UK and mainland Europe. Running through the Channel Tunnel (or the 'Chunnel' as it is known) from King’s Cross St. Pancras in London, the service later expanded its high-speed connections to Lille, Brussels, and Amsterdam, as well seasonal routes to the south of France in summer and ski resorts in winter with Eurostar Sun and Eurostar Snow. If traveling internationally between the UK and Europe, remember to arrive between 60 and 90 minutes before your Eurostar train departs for passport and luggage control. For all other Eurostar journeys across Europe, it’s best to arrive around 20 minutes before your train departs.

Standard Tickets

• Passengers must arrive between 60 to 45 minutes before departure to check-in.
• Tickets are non-refundable but can be exchanged as many times as you want, free of charge if 7 days before the date of travel. If tickets are exchanged within 7 days of travel, there will be a £30 fee plus the difference in fare.

Standard Premiere

• All seats come with extra legroom and charging sockets.
• A complimentary meal and drink served to your seat.
• Two pieces of baggage up to 85 cm long and one piece of small hand baggage included in the ticket price.
• Passengers must arrive between 60 to 45 minutes before departure to check-in.
• Tickets are non-refundable but can be exchanged as many times as you want, free of charge if 7 days before the date of travel. If tickets are exchanged within 7 days of travel, there will be a £30 fee plus the difference in fare.

Business Premiere

• All seats come with extra legroom and charging sockets.
• Access to the business lounge before departure.
• A complimentary 3 course meal designed by Raymon LeBlanc with drinks served to your seat.
• Two pieces of baggage up to 85 cm long and one piece of small hand baggage included in the ticket price.
• Exclusive lounges in London, Paris and Brussels and access to NS International lounges in Amsterdam and Rotterdam
• Priority boarding lanes. Passengers can arrive between 15 and 20 minutes before departure.
• Tickets are flexible, can be exchanged or refunded before or after departure.

When taking the Eurostar between France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, the ticket options are slightly different with different conditions applied to the journey and fare. Discount cards and reduced fares

When taking the Eurostar between France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, there are several discount cards, benefits and reduced fares that can be applied to your journey. Children below the age of 4 travel for free if not occupying their own seat. Wheelchair users and their companion will receive the Standard ticket with the full flexibility of a Premium fare. Seniors over 60 can enjoy fixed fares across all ticket types. There are also Group Saver fares and Family fares. All discounts will be applied to your ticket at the check-out when buying tickets with Omio.

When do Eurostar tickets go on sale?

Eurostar tickets usually go on sale between 138 and 190 days before departure and purchasing tickets as soon as possible is always best to get cheap Eurostar tickets. The Eurostar works on a seasonal basis, during the summer months between July and September trains go directly to Avignon, while during the winter months between December and April trains usually go direct to ski resorts such as Aime-la-Plagne or Bourg St. Maurice.

When is the best time to book a Eurostar ticket?

Booking to travel mid-week is usually the best time to find cheap Eurostar tickets. The morning and evening trains are more expensive, as are holiday evenings and Friday and Sunday afternoons.

Eurostar and sustainable travel

Eurostar is seriously committed to creating sustainable train travel. To this end, the company has its own 10-point "Tread Lightly" environmental and sustainability policy. Additionally, Eurostar works with ReforestAction, the Woodland Trust, and Trees For All, planting a tree for every train trip it makes. Over 20,000 trees were planted in 2020 alone. Salient points of the Tread Lightly plan are the elimination of fossil fuels by 2030, reducing plastic consumption by 50%, and switching to a fully electric train fleet. Another strategy is working with the Sustainable Restaurant Association to improve its sustainable food credentials.
